While moving to 4A is a big change for some Judge teams, the girls lacrosse team will see some familiar faces.
So far in 4A this year we are 3-3 and are currently undefeated against other 4A opponents. Looking at the new region teams, we have played three so far, going 2-1 against them, with a 21-2 win over East, a 16-1 win over Juan Diego, and a 16-7 loss to Highland.
Looking at the region right now Highland and Juan Diego played each other with Highland winning 18-6. The new teams will have respective records of 0-5 East, 5-2 Highland, 4-5 Jordan, 0-8 JD and 10-1 Park City. The girls 5A winner last year was Olympus and 4A was Bear River, the Judge girls defeated Juan Diego in the second round 13-11 after a first round bye. They then had a hard fought loss to Payson in the third round.
This year the girls have returning faces with Emma Steffenson, Tessa Fowler and Heidi Delpouys along with newcomers like Lauren, Sofia, Marcela, Lola and Cody.
Looking forward into the future the team is excited for the move up and the new competition with some words. Captain Heidi Delpouys says “It will be a challenge but I am excited for us to face better competition”.
Third year Rivi Bero said, “This new region will push us as a team, but I think our upperclassmen and leaders will pull through.”
