Judge Memorial’s girls lacrosse just finished off a great season, placing 2nd in their region and making it to the playoffs. The team fought hard and improved in every single game.
“I really do think that we’ve been playing well and improving and really working on playing as a team ”, according to Bea Brown, a second year player
Hard work and improvement are two main themes that the girls lacrosse team revolves around. Every teammate is proud to be there and proud to buy into the games and practices. One of the season’s highlights was the second game against Hillcrest. After losing a game to Hillcrest by 1 point, the whole team put in the work to turn the tables and win by 5 points in the playoffs. This season showed each teammate’s improvements and advancements.
“I think I’ve grown by just getting better at the sport in general, understanding the plays more, and also just having a better attitude about it ”, according to Bea.
Sports are so much more than simply winning or losing a game. There is so much mental toughness and physical strength that plays into being a good athlete.
“ I use the mistakes that I’ve made as learning experiences that show me what I need to improve the most on…I remind myself that I need to keep my head up, even if I make a big mistake during the game so that I don’t bring myself or my teammates down”, according to Polymnia H-P, a first year player and varsity starter.
Every loss is an incentive to try harder in practice, and to take advantage of failures and turn them into wins. Team sports are made up of moments that bring the players together and a collective favorite was senior night.
“ I’d say my favorite memory is probably senior night. It was really sad but I love my seniors, and I don’t want them to go ”, according to Bea.
To wrap up, this girl’s lacrosse season was made up of wins, losses, but most importantly, growth as a team. This season was the perfect setup for the team to dominate next year.
