The Judge Performing Arts Department is doing Xanadu for this year’s musical. If you missed the opening night last night, you can catch it Saturday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. or this Sunday for a matinee at 1 p.m.. It runs again next weekend on Nov. 18 and 19.

Xanadu is about a group of ancient Greek muses who somehow wind up in Los Angeles in the 1980s.

“I play the part of the muse Clio, who goes by Kira, and pretends to be Australian to try and get the gift of Xanadu from the gods by inspiring an artist named Sonny,” senior Marin O’Brien said.

“Then the leader of the Muses falls in love with Sonny,” Savannah Harlan said. “There’s just a lot of mishaps. The show is about loving art, having fun, and being true to yourself no matter what.”

The cast has had a lot of fun putting it together and hopes the audience enjoys it. “It’s one of those musicals we can just turn your brain off and laugh at all of our stupid humor,” Sam Hill said. “It’s a really funny show, a little cheesy. But you’ll have a lot of fun with it.”
