A new club has just been created at Judge this year. Ms. Buyers and a few student leaders have come together to create the new book club. Buyers is an English teacher at Judge who teaches English nine, AP Literature and English 11.
“Judge’s new club was created for kids who really like to read and talk about the books that they are reading,” Buyers said. This club was almost entirely student created and student led. Currently in the book club, the members are reading “Halloween Party” by Agatha Christie. At the next meeting, Buyers said that they will talk about the book and can choose what one they want to read next.
When asked about the importance of the new book club, Buyers said, “everyone in the school does DEAR time and reads silently in every English class so for students who want to read more and have more discussion of books, this is a place where they could do that. Reading is an important part of life.”
“To join, you can simply just show up at the meeting.
The next meeting is Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023 after school in room 302. We have meetings monthly and anyone is welcome to come.”
