With the addition of 10 new cheerleaders, the Cheer team now comprises 21 girls, making it the largest cheer team Judge has had in years. Concurrently, attendance in the student sections at football games has surged compared to previous years.
“I think it’s a contributing factor to the larger student section, but we cannot claim sole credit,” Cheer captain Riley Liechty said. “The Student Council has actively promoted the games, enhancing the overall experience.”
Throughout the year, the Student Council has demonstrated its commitment to game promotion, extending beyond football. The pre-game tailgate event ahead of the Hillcrest game notably boosted attendance not only for that match but also for subsequent volleyball games. During the Sept. 14 showdown against Juan Diego, student sections exhibited heightened prominence and greater enthusiasm compared to previous years. Members of the Student Council have noted the tailgate’s effectiveness in drawing attendees to volleyball games.
StuCo and Cheer anticipate similar events during the upcoming winter and spring seasons for sports such as basketball and boys soccer.
