I spoke to Coach Natalie Smith, who is the head coach of the Judge Ultimate Frisbee team. She has been involved in the frisbee world since her college years, starting in “1989 when I was in college at Virginia Tech” playing with some of her friends. She has been involved in frisbee in multiple cites, and “kept playing in all the cities that I moved to Washington D.C. and then Salt Lake.”
She spoke about the teams changes this year with “a number of new freshman…and a senior group that has been playing for about 4 years.” The team has been doing well, and has won the majority of their games, with a current record of 6-4. The team is “playing in a mixed co-ed tournament” later this month and has reached out to some girls from “volleyball, tennis, and soccer who want to come try it.” She emphasized throughout the interview, how the team is mostly focused on having fun with friends, while still performing well in their tournaments and games throughout the season.
As a frisbee player myself, I think that coach Smith does a great job with the team and achieves the fun environment that everyone is their for.
