Eight months after folk-pop singer Noah Kahan released his third studio album “Stick Season” he released a deluxe version of the album called “We’ll All Be Here Forever” with seven new songs each telling a different empirical story.
Throughout the entirety of the album, you can feel the emotion, and spirit of the experiences Kahan is singing about. He truly sets up a storyline throughout his entire album with everything stemming from his own small town, and going on to deal with the pandemic, drugs, alcohol, love, loss, and even mental health. No matter what mood you are in, or what you are going through you will be able to find a song on this album that you resonate with.
There isn’t a song on this album that I don’t genuinely enjoy, however, my two favorites that got me into this album in the first place are “Call Your Mom,” and “No Complaints.” Both of these songs talk about Kahan’s personal struggle with mental health and the struggles of mental health as someone from the outside. You can truthfully feel the sentiment, and soul that Kahan absolutely poured into each and every one of these songs.
However, my favorite part of this album is how after Kahan released the deluxe version with seven added songs to the tracklist he also released five of those songs as singles with features from very prevalent artists. Just when you think these songs can’t get any better, you hear these artists beautifully compliment the soulful voice of Kahan. These features include Hozier, Kacey Musgraves, Post Malone, Gracie Abrums, and Lizzy McAlpine, and I cannot wait to see who Kahan features on his last two deluxe songs from this album.
Just as its predecessor did, “Stick Season: We’ll All Be Here Forever” pulls at your heartstrings reaffirming Kahan’s status as a rising star in the indie-folk world. No matter the mood I am in I constantly find myself coming back to his album. This album never fails to exceed my expectations and has been one of my favorites since it came out.
