Grace Wilmarth has attended Judge all four years. Not only is she academically and socially involved at Judge, but outside, too. She volunteers with the National Charity League (NCL) program with her mother and has played on tennis since her freshman year. Now promoted to captain along with some other seniors on the team, she describes her personal experience and reflections as a player on the tennis team.
“Winning three championships been my proudest moment,” says Wilmarth. She and her team obtained victory in 2023 by winning regions and the Carbon tournament, with another Carbon tournament victory this year.
“My primary goal for my last season playing tennis is to win state,” Wilmarth said. When asked about advice for future high school tennis players, Wilmarth’s answers reflect what she learned when she first started playing on the Judge tennis team. “Have fun. Tennis is a great way to meet new people” she explains. Wilmarth adds how tennis has also changed her throughout the years since joining the team.
“I’ve met lots of people through tennis who have become some of my greatest friends,” Wilmarth said. “Since my freshman year, I wasn’t as open as I am now because of tennis. There’s just a lot of great people and it has just a great environment.”
Wilmarth describes tennis as not only just matches and championships but also a personally transformative experience. From her past achievements to her future goals, Wilmarth has shown not only growth in her playing skills but also as a person. Her dedication to playing tennis has shown to be a reminder to aim high, be open to new opportunities, and have fun.
