Another outstanding year for our girls’ swim team. The girls took home another victory, solidifying their mark on 3a swim with a 4th consecutive state win. The girls dominated almost every event. From winning every relay in a group effort to taking first in a solo 500-yard freestyle, the girls proved themselves once again.
Not only did the girls excel as a team, they also excelled individually. Senior Amelia Conner capped off her final swim, winning the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.99. Additionally, Freshman Catherine Eager took 1st place in all four of the events she swam: the 200 I.M. and the 100-yard backstroke, as well as leading off the 200 medley relay and swimming 3rd in the 400 free relay. The team also saw new faces that helped carry the team to victory. Many swimmers have been hard at work to achieve state times.
Saying goodbye to beloved seniors, but excited to see new faces. The team had 13 seniors on the team this year. The majority of which have been on the team for all these years. A win for every year they were on the team. Something few can say. Captain Delaney Dolan reflects on the years and tells how the experience on the team has been like none other. “I remember it being very special, even the fact that I qualified for state as a freshman, and then I guess it’s kind of just like a bit of an addiction, once you start winning, you don’t want to stop” Dolan said.
More challenges will come with the following year moving into 4a. This means bigger competition and more vigorous races. Captains Delaney Dolan and Amelia Conner have high hopes for the team next year. “Judge is ready to move on to that higher level of competition, and I think it’ll be different, there are going to be challenges, but just knowing the group of kids that Judge has, everyone’s gonna power through together” Dolan said. Although there is no longer a guaranteed win, the girls should have no trouble putting up a fight against these new teams. GO BULLDOGS.
