Sarah Daw wins school Poetry Out Loud competition

Sarah Daw talks about her feelings on winning the school’s Poetry Out Loud recitation contest.

Over 130 students advanced to recite poems on Friday, Feb. 5. Sarah Daw won the school finals by reciting “The Mothering Blackness” by Maya Angelou.

Daw will next perform three poems at the Salt Lake regional competition on Feb. 22.

The school finalists who performed at the all-school assembly on Feb. 9: Jasiel Avina, Oli Baende, Kalli Bo, Tahj Cole, Aidan Slade Conboy, Myriam Cortez, Rufus Cox, Cecilia Tucker, Emmy Gilbert, Ruby Hayden, Shushu Mayar, Lupita Medina, Justine Nicholson, Marcus Romero, Maddie Shragge, Anna Smith, Peter Stokes, Avi Verma, Will Yarrish.
