On Monday, March 25, the Judge Girls Lacrosse team had a game against cross town rival Highland High. The game was played at home in McCarthey Stadium, and the fans showed out, packing the stands with parents, friends, and other students. The Judge girls youth team was even there to support and played a mini lacrosse game at halftime, and the Judge Boys Lacrosse team was also there to support the Lady Bulldogs.
Prior to this game, the team was on a roll, blowing out American Fork and Logan by scores of 12-5 and 19-6, respectively. Against Logan, senior Audrey Selfridge scored 12 of the team’s 19 goals, setting a new program record for most goals in a single game. Led by Selfridge, the team was confident going into their game against Highland.
Unfortunately, despite great plays from Selfridge and other starters Heidi Delpouys and Tessa Fowler, the Bulldogs lost to the Rams 16-7. However, this score doesn’t reflect the team’s great effort and impact of the game beyond on-the-field stats. Win or lose, the team inspired countless young players from the Judge girls youth lacrosse team who were there watching and looking up to the high schoolers.
So what’s next for the team? Sitting at a very respectable 4-2 record, the team’s next game is this Friday April 19 against the Waterford Ravens, at home in McCarthey Stadium. The team will again rely on the leadership of players like Selfridge and Delpouys as they hope to take home a big win against their in-region rival. After that, the remainder of the regular season is up next, followed by the playoffs at the end of May. So come support the girls lacrosse team as they prepare for a big playoff run!
