Can you spell dramaturgy? This year the Judge Memorial Theatre Department is putting on a production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. This riveting spell-off will keep you on the edge of your seat, cracking up to its exceptional humor.
Written by Rachel Sheinkin, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee follows six eccentric children as they compete against one another for spelling glory. The show debuted on Broadway in 2005 with director James Lapine and was nominated for six Tonys, winning two of them, one of which was Best Book. The show invites audience members to participate in the bee each night, allowing for new experiences of the story.
In a quote from starring actress Morgan Schmutz, “The show is really fun and I love being with the cast and crew and learning from them. My favorite moment in the show is when I sing My Friend the Dictionary and the ensemble does a very cute dance with dictonaries.” Don’t miss out and come see this wonderful show at Judge!
