In 2024 we saw a lot of songs from all artists. Some songs were surprises like when Drake and Kendrick Lamar were beefing. And other songs being planned and highly anticipated like the drops of albums and singles. We have come together and discussed which songs we believe were the best of 2024. We have based the result of our top 5 songs on 2 main criteria: Number of streams, and personal judgment. Number of streams shows us how popular the song was and just how many people enjoyed listening to the song. Personal Judgement is the last thing we consider which helps us decide in what order the songs should be.
#5 ‘Water by’ Tyla
Tyla’s ‘Water’ took the world by storm, becoming a global hit instantly. The song dominated streaming platforms and social media, making it one of the most recognizable tracks of the year. It had a huge cultural impact, with dance trends that took over TikTok. While it was incredibly popular, and had an incredible chorus all the other parts of the song don’t really stand out.
#4 ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ by Shaboozey
This song became a viral hit with its catchy melody and fun country vibe. It gained popularity on social media platforms, leading to its current impressive streaming numbers. However, compared to the others on the list, it lacked diversity. The song has an amazing chorus but not much else. Its popularity was undeniable, but its impact was slightly less than the higher-ranked tracks.
#3 ‘Type sh*t by Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, and Metro Boomin
With three big artists, this song had high expectations and most definitely delivered with its energetic beat and lyrics that perfectly matched. The collaboration between Carti, Travis, and Metro made it a must-listen for hip-hop fans around the globe. Its hype was unquestionable, but we felt it maybe was too long to make and felt a little repetitive at times. The song’s streaming numbers were impressive which helped it make its way on this list.

#2 ‘Sticky’ by Tyler The Creator
Tyler created a sort of abstract and diverse song style here, making ‘Sticky’ an instant fan favorite. The song stood out for its creativity and was praised by the public. Its streams were strong, proving its widespread appeal, but it wasn’t quite at the level of cultural dominance as the top two. The song at times seemed random and had many style switches which led to its place on the list.
#1 ‘Die With A Smile’ by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga
This song became an instant classic, combining the impressive vocals and songwriting ability of two of the biggest artists in the industry. With its depth and stunning production, it resonated with audiences worldwide. It topped the charts for weeks and became the most-streamed song of the year. People worldwide praised its impeccable quality, making it deserving of the top spot. The song was an obvious number 1 choice with its ability to keep listeners engaged during the whole song, not missing a single beat.
