Girls golf only became a sanctioned sport in Utah in 2008, and Judge has been competing at the 3A level since the beginning. Next year the girls golf team will join 4A, and teams like Park City and Cottonwood are winning consistently this year.
Judge is currently in second place in region. Juan Diego is in first place and has five players in the top six spots in region play. Judge has four girls in the top ten in region play so far in 2025, and the good news is that they’ll all be returning next year: Rylie Bates (class of 2028), Katy Beaudry (2028), Sophia Burns (2026), and Maddie Evans (2028).
Of the six teams in 4A Region 10, Park City is in first place, Cottonwood in third place, Jordan in fifth, and Murray in sixth. Of the 5A teams joining Judge’s region next year East is in fifth and Highland in sixth out of six teams.
The rest of the 4A classification has demonstrated a high level of competition. In the 2024 state championship, Cedar High School overcame a 13-stroke deficit to win their first-ever state title, finishing with a team score of 682. Crimson Cliffs and Green Canyon closely followed, highlighting the depth of talent in 4A girls golf .Top individual performances in the 4A division have been impressive. Orem’s Kaylee Westfall led her region with an average score of 70, while Crimson Cliffs’ Kate Walker posted a 71.3 average. These scores set a high benchmark for Judge golfers as they prepare to compete at this elevated level .
Despite the anticipated challenges, the Bulldogs are approaching the move with optimism. Players and coaches view the transition as an opportunity for growth and development.
“I am excited to see how the future of this program is able to compete against bigger and better teams,” Olivia Lemos said. The team is committed to elevating their performance to meet the demands of 4A competition, embracing the chance to compete against some of the state’s top programs.
