That’s a wrap on the season for the 2024-2025 Judge Memorial Bulldogs boys soccer team who finished the year with another winning season, going 8-5 and securing the 3A region 14 championship.
The boys drew the 9 seed in the 3A state tournament, and started their postseason run against Richfield, the 8 seed. The Bulldogs came out on top with a commanding 4-0 win as they prepared to face the number 1 seed Ogden Tigers.
The Bulldogs made the trip to Ogden, where the Tigers started out fast scoring 2 goals in the first fifteen minutes of the game to take an early lead. As the half winded down Ogden’s keeper got a little too comfortable dribbling way out of the goalie box, where he was met by Rayburn Moore, who dispossessed the keeper and scored a goal from just in front of the half field line. The Bulldogs had Ogden on their heels going into halftime down 2-1 with lot’s of momentum. Unfortunately the Tigers came out of halftime, and had clearly made adjustments. They scored 4 goals unanswered and walked out with 5-1 win against the Bulldogs who played hard, but didn’t execute well enough to win.
An unfortunate end to the year, but a year full of success that won’t be forgotten. That goes down as another winning year for coach Kelly Terrill putting his career at 75-50 wins to losses for his career, who is certainly one of the most storied coaches
in state history. The team lost many important seniors from last year causing many players to have to embrace new roles this year to contribute.
One of those players was Tahj Cole, a Junior forward who saw a major increase in varsity minutes and made the most of it. “Individually I thought I was really happy with my performance…stepping up into a starter role and being able to produce on a higher level was pretty fun.” Cole finished the season as the top scorer scoring 8 goals and dishing out 2 assists on the year. Forward Rayburn Moore and Senior Captain Ted O’Brien each had very impressive seasons tallying 5 goals and 2 assists each. Christopher Salinas had a great sophomore year, leading the team with a whopping 13 assists, good for top 10 in the state.
Now the focus shifts to the 2025-2026 soccer season who will be led by a large group of seniors and a strong underclassmen bunch. Cole’s thoughts of the future were optimistic, “I think we still have a really strong squad coming in the next year…we’ll miss some of our seniors, but the core of our team is still definitely intact…hopefully we can get a championship.”
