Recently, there has been a conflict between students and faculty over specific shoes, such as the Birkenstock and North Face “slippers”, and if they should be allowed to be worn as a part of the uniform. This podcast contains interviews with both students and teachers to compare and contrast their points of view. The students believe that the specific shoes meet requirements that are expected of other shoes. The faculty believes that the shoes present safety issues, display economic status and create a disparity, and connote a sense of lounging. Rules against these shoes have not been put into the handbook yet, but they are enforced by teachers and students will be punished for wearing them.
