Service Day At Urban Crossroads Center

Will Holbrook

My advisory and I went to the Urban Crossroads help center which is downtown. This is a place where anyone can go if they are struggling in any way. They could have a lack of food or just don’t know what they should do. And Urban Crossroads will do whatever it takes to get that person back on their feet. We also learned about how the help center has been there for a very long time, helping people for many different decades.

My advisory did a bunch of different kinds of service that were all helpful to the community in the Urban Center. We helped them with repainting cabinets/walls, dusting, cleaning windows, pressure washing stairs, cutting food, and cleaning bathrooms. It was pretty basic stuff but it helped them a lot because the building needed to be cleaned.

My favorite part of the experience was when we were washing the stairs outside every single person that walked up or down told us thanks for helping them and their friends. It felt very nice that these people appreciated what we were doing for them.
