What Is Happening In Computer Science?

Will Holbrook

In the midst of Judge, there is an interesting story surrounding the computer science classes this year. Mr. Jardali, a new teacher for computer science was hired over the summer, but he is not in Salt Lake. He has been and is currently stuck in Lebanon and cannot get to the U.S. because of a visa issue.

In his place, Mr. Johnstone who is a temporary employee for Judge has been subbing so far this year and partially teaches the class along with Mr. Jardali. The class is taught with Mr. Johnstone in person and then with the important parts, Mr. Jardali will participate through zoom.

However, as you could imagine there are some difficulties that arise while this unusual situation is unfolding. As Mr. Johnstone says here, the technology component is often the most problem-causing part of the class.

“Mr. Jardali being in Lebanon, the internet speed, his connection on his end is not great, and occasionally he’ll lose power as well.”

Overall, this is a very interesting predicament at Judge that needs to be surfaced, and hopefully, the situation will improve as the year goes on.
