This year’s freshman class is one of the biggest classes in recent Judge history. Judge Student Ambassadors, a club in which students help recruit new students and help those new students feel welcomed here at Judge, helped make that possible.

Damarco Soutor, an executive member of Judge Student Ambassadors (also known as JSA), offered a possible explanation for these great results. Dean Douglass has taken over as leader of JSA and has since run things a bit differently than last year. Mr. Douglass runs meetings in a different fashion by asking for the student members’ input on ideas. Last year, student members did not have as much of a voice in the way the club was run, but Mr. Douglass has changed that.

Not only is the head administrator different, but new executive officers now help run JSA. Executive members Han Nguyen, Sam Cowan, and Damarco Soutor help run the meetings and the club alongside club presidents Sofia Wedemeyer and Stella Sharp. They brainstorm ways that JSA can help build and improve the Judge community. Recently, JSA helped run a celebration of Judge’s 100-year anniversary. The celebration was more of a reunion, with past alums, faculty members, and current students all coming together to celebrate Judge’s community. JSA helped out, as they normally do at events like this, by making sure everyone who attended felt like they were wanted and belonged.

With a few administration changes, Judge Student Ambassadors looks better than ever. The club is at an all-time high for student participation, and students’ voices are truly listened to. I look forward to seeing how JSA will continue helping the Judge community in the future.
