Girls basketball has been one of the many successful sports at Judge over the years. They continually dominate their region and place well in the state tournament, taking sixth place in the state this year.
Next year they return Elyah Ocampo, and leading scorer Munah Doe who averaged 10 points per game along with top playmaker Makena Gardner who averaged three assists per game. So that begs the question, how do they match up for the pending move to 4A?
I really this team’s chances to succeed in the higher division. Some of the teams to beat in the new region are Cottonwood who finished the season with a 17-4 ranked fifth in this season’s final RPI in 4A and Jordan who had a record of 15-9.
This year during preseason they played top competition like undefeated 4A state champion Ridgeline, 5A’s American Fork, and beat Brighton, who finished in eighth place in the final 5A RPI rankings.
“I think with the teams we’re playing in our preseason we are going to succeed right away,” junior Jazzy Zenner said.
The girls basketball team is one of the best sports at Judge, and I believe that their future is bright going forward. Although not all of Judge will succeed right away at the 4A level, I believe that girls basketball will do just fine with the new move.
