This year’s annual state competition marked the boys’ swim team’s fifth consecutive victory. These boys demonstrated half a decade of pure excellence in the 3A division. Our boys won by 98.5 points, with Canyon View following in second. However, this was the team’s last year participating in 3A. That’s right. The boys’ swim team is moving on to bigger and better things: 4A. The question is: Will they live up to their reputation, and will this move up conclude their long-standing winning streak?
Avery Jones, an athlete on the team who is also succeeding in a captain position in the 25’-26’ season, shared his thoughts about the move with me. While many of us sit in fear at the thought of 4A and the possibility of losing the win streak, Jones remains calm and confident in the team’s abilities.
The team will be up against schools such as East, Highland, Park City, Murray, Cottonwood, and Jordan. Park City taking the 4A State and Murray following in 2nd will be schools to keep our eye on in the following seasons. Nothing these boys can’t handle, but surely will be close meets.
“I believe that it’ll help the team benefit towards becoming faster and be more competitive, but I also believe it’ll hinder us towards winning the state championship, However, I have faith that we will come out on top no matter what, in terms of state championships”, Jones says.
Big shoes for the current swimmers and incoming swimmers to fill in the upcoming season. With the loss of Matthew Eager(Captain), Zach Farr(Captain), Teddy Fiscus, along with many others who carry much weight on the team. It will be interesting to see what the next year has for this swim dynasty.
