Judge Memorial Boys Lacrosse is making the jump to 5A for the 2025-2026 school year. It marks the first time that a Judge Memorial sports team has made the move to such a high classification since UHSAA implemented number classes in place of the traditional A and B classes. The Bulldogs have had much success in 4A posting a 17-3 record in 2024 (12-0 in 4A) with a state championship to top it off. Judge Memorial’s Boys Lacrosse team currently competes in 4A Region 10 due to no 3A classification in UHSAA Boys Lacrosse. The Bulldogs ran through the 4A State Tournament pretty convincingly with their closest game coming in the championship a 13-8 win over Sky View. 

Judge has competed well against 5A competition in the past posting wins against Alta and Highland and a tough 11-10 OT loss to Park City, a perennial 5A championship contender and a 12-11 OT win against last years state champions, Brighton. Judge will be joining 5A Region 4 which includes Park City, East, Hillcrest, West and West Jordan. Judge will definitely be considered an underdog in 5A, with Judge having an enrollment of around 500 students whereas most 5A schools have an average of about 986 students, which puts Judge at a disadvantage due to lack of students compared to 5A schools. 

Junior Captain Matthew Evans had positive feedback about the jump to 5A. He said “everyone is really excited to have better competition, and we are all stepping up our game to meet the challenge.” Most of the team has been playing together since 2nd grade and even though Judge is a smaller school, Evans believes the tight knit comradery the team has built for years will allow the Bulldogs to be successful in the 5A classification. 

Overall, the Judge Memorial Boys Lacrosse team is excited for the challenge of playing in a higher classification, with many tough teams that compete for a championship. The Bulldogs are sure to make the jump to 5A with the intent to not only compete, but to win it all.
