The first half was back and forth with Democracy Prep taking a 6-0 at halftime lead. When junior running back Tyrese Boyce went out with a knee injury, the team turned to its passing game in the second half going on a 20-0 run. During that nine-minute stretch, quarterback Calvin McAward connected with Nyuon Choul three times for 86 yards and a touchdown. Henry Thompson and Marcus Herrera had two receptions each, while Isiah Hemmings, Patrick Clark, and Kevin Pernich had one reception.

Isaiah Hemmings scored two touchdowns on the ground. In the end the Bulldogs pulled out a 20-12 win. After dropping its first game to Layton Christian, the team improved to 2-1 on the season.

“Our boys did a great job of fighting back after being down early in the game. It was a total team win,” head football coach Will Hawes said.
