Mr. Gregory teaches Algebra I, Advanced Algebra II Honors, and Geometry, but on April 16, he instructed the Jiu-Jitsu class in The Yerk for Arts Appreciation Day.
The gym had about 15-20 participants. Mr. Gregory would ask someone to volunteer to demonstrate his Jiu-Jitsu defensive moves. He took us through each move and when to do them. There were no pads to do takedowns, so we just practiced in wrestling positions. When he was done demonstrating his technique on the student, he dismissed us to grab a partner and practice what we had just seen. We practiced arm bars, choke-holds, and other defensive situations.
After about four series of this, we learned many defensive techniques. There were many decent matchups throughout the gym floor. Everyone had a fun time and had a great learning experience with Mr. Gregory.
Jiu Jitsu is for self-defense only, not picking a fight with someone.
