Katie Ross is a member of the jazz band, playing the flute and sometimes the piccolo. Outside of Judge she practices and performs with the Utah Youth Symphony Orchestra.
The Utah Youth Symphony Orchestra, or UYSO, is a group of advanced high school musicians. She meets with the other musicians once a week to play pieces from classical composers.
Katie’s passion for the flute began in fourth grade when she picked up the flute on a whim for her grade school’s band. Music has been a big part of Katie’s life since. She has been able to find an amazing community in the UYSO and has kept her interest in music thriving. Katie wishes to continue her music career with a goal to minor or double major in music during college and also continue to find groups to play with. She also plans on sharing her love and expertise of the instrument by becoming a flute teacher one day.
Make sure to see her play at 7:00 pm on Saturday, May 16 at Abravanel Hall. Admission is free.
