At Judge Memorial Catholic High School, students in the Environmental Club spent the month of April celebrating Earth Month through lots of activities focused on sustainability, service, and community involvement. From planting flowers to hosting a bake sale, club members helped show awareness about the importance of protecting the environment while also encouraging other students to make small changes in their everyday lives.
One of the club’s events was on April 22, Earth Day, when students organized a planting party on campus. Students in the club helped plant flowers for the school’s prayer garden, adding new color and life to the space while also creating a more peaceful environment for students and staff to enjoy. Club members said the event was a fun way to celebrate Earth Day while giving back to the school community.
Earlier in the month, the Environmental Club also held a bake sale to raise awareness for environmental issues and support future club projects. The event brought many students together and helped the club gain more visibility around campus.
Students Alex Salazar-Hall and Caroline Woodbury mentioned why environmental action is important to them. Caroline explained, “We are the ones who are going to have to deal with it, and we are going to have to do what is in our power,” they said.
Alex also explained some of the ways they try to live more sustainably in their daily life. “I like to carpool a lot and garden, and I also like to take as short of showers as possible,” they said.
Through projects big and small, the Environmental Club continues to encourage Judge students to care for the planet and take pride in making a positive difference in their community.
