Boys soccer teams win big over Summit Academy

Henry Thompson scores against Summit Academy on March 26.

To wrap up the Judge boys soccer away games this season the team had an outing against Summit Academy at their field. After a commanding 8-0 win and mercy rule from the Varsity team, the JV squad had their turn to try to assert their dominance on the field.

The game did get off to a somewhat slow start though, with Judge mostly playing in Summit’s half but unable to find a goal. Although when asking some of the players on the bench they all had confidence that Judge would start scoring and it may come from one of them.

With some great combination play in the attacking area, Judge sophomore Tahj Cole slid a shot past the Summit Academy goalkeeper and Judge never looked back from there. Judge would go on to pile 3 more goals on to the scoreboard before halftime and they were feeling good. A particular highlight came when varsity center back Lee Thielking came onto the field as an attacker and ended up scoring a goal for himself, exciting the Judge crowd.

During halftime Judge head coach Kelly Terrill would emphasize to the boys to not let up and continue playing with their foot on the gas. Coming out of halftime that is exactly what happened as the boys came out attacking relentlessly. After tacking in four more goals and ending the game with a mercy rule the team headed back to Salt Lake. All in all it was a great day for the whole program and gave both teams a ton of confidence going into senior night, the last game of the regular season coming up on Tuesday, April 23.
